Senior Management Search

Summit Corporation Limited (SCL), a member of the Summit Group of Companies, is seeking an outstanding individual to head its Human Resource functions.  SCL is the market leader in the IPP sector in Bangladesh, with approximately 1,500 MW in operation and 1000 MW in construction.  SCL and its controlled subsidiaries employ approximately 1500 employees.

Head of Human Resources

Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible among others, for the following:

  • Develop and upgrade corporate policies and guidelines, formulate new policies, HR strategies that align with company’s goal, with a focus on organizational design, talent management and compensation;
  • Review the existing policies, promulgate suitable new corporate code of discipline and help to foster a global company outlook across the whole group;
  • Consistently communicate mission, vision, values, goals and culture with all employees and develop and implement practices that reflect these aspects in the group.
  • Challenge the status quo and be a catalyst for change.  Provide imaginative ideas and solutions that deliver improved performance.
  • Recruit and develop personnel to achieve their full potential
  • Work with senior management team  in long-term organizational planning
  • Maintain the reputation of the company with all stakeholders
  • Establish and implement HR practices that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision.
  • Develop HR plans, strategies and policies to support the achievement of the overall business objectives.
  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit regarding key organizational and management issues.
  • Work with the company's executive management to establish a sound plan of management succession. 
  • Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the company.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective for the firm.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function

Duty Station: Head Office, Dhaka.

Compensation: Competitive compensation package commensurate with seniority and experience

Competencies Required:

  • Senior managerial experience, leadership and the ability to work with senior management, both horizontally and vertically.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources with proven experience of about 10 or more years in people management and handling strategic HR functions.
  • Good working knowledge of the employment laws of the country. Good communication and influencing skills are essential.  Business acumen and high ethical standards are absolutely necessary.

Summit Corporation Limited (SCL) invites suitable candidates for the following position:

Assistant Manager- Social & Community Relations

Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare/Assist/Support in developing scope of works for engagement any consultant for conducting SIA (Social Impact Assessment) for any new project.
  • Review and understand the projects social documents and reports, and principles and Bangladesh Government’s rules & regulations, financiers guiding standards and IFC Performance Standards & ADB standard policy applicable to the Project
  • Consulting SCL subsidiaries on social issues including lender, investor’s requirements
  • Supervise/support any ongoing exercise of Social Impact Assessment (SIA).
  • Timely monitor performance of existing projects based on approved criteria.
  • Assist the Company in implementing resettlement and rehabilitation, livelihood restoration or community development activities in accordance with the Company’s Action Plans or Procedures and recommendation made by project specific SIA.
  • Maintain an effective practice of Community Consultation and Participation so that the communication and channel with the community is adequately maintained
  • Identify and engage different level of stakeholders by establishing clear stakeholder engagement channels and procedures
  • Receive, investigate and resolve grievances or concerns at corporate level that arises from the community due to the Project Activities and proper record keeping of the activities
  • Conduct periodic audit of existing operational & under construction facilities
  • Perform other relevant tasks or responsibilities assigned by Company’s Supervisor/Management

 

Duty Station: Primarily at Head Office, Dhaka; however, incumbent may be required to be temporarily stationed at any Power Plants of Company within Bangladesh.

Salary: Negotiable

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or any development related disciplines, preferably with a Master’s degree from a reputed University in Bangladesh or abroad.
  • Five (05) or more years of experience working on issues related to development program support/management, community engagement and development, livelihood restoration, resettlement and rehabilitation
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with diverse group of people and proven capacity to produce quality reports and write-ups
  • Have understanding on all local laws related to Social Compliance and IFC Performance Standards ADB safe guard policy
  • Understanding of environmental / social aspects related power plant operation & construction will get preference
