Hiromi Sakakibara

Hiromi Sakakibara is the Executive Officer of JERA Co., Inc. Hiromi Sakakibara began his career in 1988 at Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (CEPCO). He served at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects and participating at the Power System Engineering course at General Electric (GE).

Dr. Sakakibara led CEPCO’s overseas businesses in executive positions in the International Affairs Department for decades, specifically, preparing the commissioning plan and schedule management with the coordination to the EPC contractor at the site in Mexico, acquiring several IPP projects in Qatar and Canada, and acting as a Board Member of several IPP projects in North America, Middle East and SouthEast Asia.

In 2016, he joined JERA and took the post of senior vice president of Energy Infrastructure Group in charge of supervising all overseas activities consisting of development, operation and maintenance. Mr. Sakakibara currently serves as the executive officer at business management group and supervise all overseas activities including asset, finance, engineering and technology management.

Dr. Sakakibara has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Graduate School of Doshisha and PhD in Technology Management from the Graduate School of Ritsumeikan.
