Muhammed Aziz Khan

Chairman

Muhammed Aziz Khan is the founder chair of Summit Power International Pvt Limited. Summit Group is recognized as the largest infrastructure group in Bangladesh, employing over 7,000 people with investments in the energy sector, ports, shipping, hospitality and information technology.

Under the leadership of Muhammed Aziz Khan, Summit set up the first Independent Power Plant of the country in 1998, Khulna Power Company Limited was joint venture with Wartsila Corporation of Finland. Currently, Summit generates about 1,500 megawatts of electricity and is by far the largest independent power producer (IPP) in the country. Summit also set up the country’s first private off-dock facility, Summit Alliance Ports Limited which is currently handling about 20% of the country’s export and about 10% of the country’s import volumes. Summit Communications Ltd., set up by Khan is the first company to lay 70% nationwide telecommunication transmission fiber optic network in Bangladesh, and connecting Bangladesh to India and Myanmar through terrestrial fiber optics. IPCO, a hospitality and real estate company, is building one five star, one four star hotel, convention hall and 1,000 high class shops beside the International Airport of Dhaka. Summit Technopolis Limited, a Public Private Partnership (PPP), is the concessionaire for developing 91 acres area of Block 2 and 5 in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City, Kaliakoir, Gazipur.

Summit Power Limited, Summit Alliance Ports Limited and Khulna Power Company Ltd. are three companies of the group currently listed in the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges with a combined market capitalization of over USD 903 million.

Muhammed Aziz Khan is the President of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies and the Honorary Consul General of Finland to Bangladesh. Khan is the Chairman of Siraj Khaleda Trust and was the founder past President of Bangladesh Scouts Foundation, Bangladesh Energy Companies Association and Prothom Alo Trust.

Muhammed Aziz Khan was born in 1955. He has an MBA from the prestigious Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Muhammed Aziz Khan is married to Anjuman Aziz Khan and has three daughters, Ayesha, Adeeba and Azeeza. He is keen on arts and plays golf.
